Excited to announce that I’ve joined Megaphone.xyz as CTO!
I want to share a couple stories in my professional life that motivated me to join Megaphone.
Years ago at Uber’s IPO, the company gave drivers a one-time payout—up to $10k—as a token of appreciation. It was rewarding to see Uber acknowledge the people who built its success.
But I’ve been in crypto for a while now, and $10k for your most loyal and dedicated community members just doesn’t hit right.
The second was most recently at 0x, where I spent 4 years focused on DEX aggregation, learning the intricacies of AMMs, MEV, optimal routing, off chain market making, and all things trading. While these are all hard problems, one of our most difficult challenges was growth.
Crypto growth is unpredictable—one day you're struggling, the next you're in the spotlight. But just as quickly, the hype fades, and projects scramble to keep up with shifting trends.
Identifying your true fans, listening to them, building a product they love, and forming a deep connection with them to endure the violent shifts in sentiment is hard.
Megaphone has been tackling this problem for years. The team’s first product was Megaphone (fka DeForm), which you might have encountered via allowlist applications or feedback forms. The second was Campaigns - questing done the Megaphone way.
Teams used DeForm to grow their user base, learn about their customers, and build better products to a more activated community.
Ultimately, the magic of crypto is that it allows value to flow freely. It unlocks the ability to make disbursements as easy as sending tweets - and for brands, the ability to push value to their community is jet fuel for growth.
Instead of burning thousands of dollars on ads, most of which is bidded up in an auction against other companies, brands can use ad spend directly on rewards to loyal and prospective users. And by launching NFTs and tokens, brands can deepen their financial alignment with their community, enriching their fans as they grow.
With an expansion into token claims, Megaphone is enabling brands to fully unlock crypto’s power to activate the community.
Megaphone is for every brand that is tired of expensive ads and paltry results. Megaphone is for every company looking to supercharge their word of mouth growth. Megaphone is for everyone that believes users should get rich alongside the team.
I’m doubly excited that I’ll be joined in these efforts by Kyu Chang - a longtime collaborator and good friend of mine from 0x. We will be grinding on the engineering to make sure Megaphone becomes every company’s growth companion.
In Albert Hu and Catherine Chang - we have some of the most customer centric and business savvy leaders I have met in this space. They made sure I listened to a number of customer calls before today. They love to construct win-win deals with customers and provide deep support for partners. Customers rave about Megaphone and it’s no secret to me why.
